I graduated from University of Central Florida (UCF) with a degree in Elementary Education. My
certification is for Grades 1-6 with ESOL Endorsement. I have taken several courses towards my
Masters in Elementary Education - Curriculum Emphasis - at University of South Florida (USF).
I love teaching children to read. I enjoy guided reading groups and whole-class lessons. During the
school year, the class is busy learning science, social studies, math, reading, writing, and so much more.
I like poetry and themed lessons/units that tie reading and writing with science and social studies.
I'm a Florida native. My parents live in the north Orlando area, so it's still "home" to me. I have a sister
named Sharon. She is married to Whitney and has two children, Chloe and Gavin. I married my best
friend of 11 years, Chris, in November 2005. We have one very senior cat named Sinatra. When I'm not
teaching, I like to hang out with my hubby, travel, work on my scrapbooks, take walks, read (books,
magazines, Sunday newspaper), do crossword puzzles (easy ones!), flowerpot gardening, and play
Spider Solitaire on the computer. I also enjoy cleaning & doing laundry (hey, I might as well enjoy it
since I gotta do it!), and watching General Hosptial while ironing (or when just relaxing on the couch).
My Favorites: Italian food, ice cream, York Peppermint Patties, Twizzlers, Jolly Ranchers, dark
chocolate, coffee, the color blue, mystery stories, listening to 80's alternative music.
